@aaronsande If your options are pay $3000 on a credit card now, or lose your house next month, you could be desperate enough to do it.

  2. @qtzlctl2012 Major …
@qtzlctl2012 Major purchases require significant responsibility, which means getting informed. You are partly to blame if you get screwed over because you are misinformed. These folks all had enough background (having bought a home) to be somewhat informed.

  3. @qtzlctl2012 So …
@qtzlctl2012 So what makes the difference in THIS case, where you place ALL the fault on the scammer and none on the scammee?

  4. i heard of a scam …
i heard of a scam that got busted from one of the judge shows it was awesome and funny and there was another thing that got busted on it that was anohter type of scam then this one it was a scam on tax payers tho ha bisky upload love knowing that scams r being busted

  5. @aaronsande I have …
@aaronsande I have owned a home before. what does taht matter?

  6. @aaronsande Both at …
@aaronsande Both at fault. Car dealerships are the worst example of predatory scamming.

  7. @qtzlctl2012 Ah-HAH …
@qtzlctl2012 Ah-HAH! I’ve been cheated, you might call it scammed. My first car purchase. My dad’s old car was breaking down, and I’d had a rental for a week. I saw a low APR ad for a car I’d always wanted on TV, so I drove to the dealership, had the rental company get their car (stupid me), and started dealing.

They claimed the APR was for other makes, and I ended up getting a terrible deal on the car. Lost me more than $3,000 in the end, by my calculations. So was that their fault, or mine?

  8. @BrotherAlpha $ …
@BrotherAlpha $3,000 has GOT to be 3 months of mortgage payments for the sort of persons we are discussing here. Where’s the common sense? How could ANY refi save you that much? And why pay up front? That’s not how it works when you actually BUY the house!

  9. @qtzlctl2012 ITYM, …
@qtzlctl2012 ITYM, “if you SAY you’ve never been scammed, I think you’re a liar”. I think it, but I might be wrong. Possibly. But if you don’t follow my logic about home owners, then you must not be one yet. Since they bought a home, they should know more about mortgage refinancing.

There will always be criminals…there will always be scammers. The BEST protection is not the law, or the cops. It is being informed. Get all the information BEFORE you hand over $3,000 to some stranger. Sheesh.

  10. @aaronsande yeah, i …
@aaronsande yeah, i[‘ve been scammed. AND i’ve figured it out before hand. If you think you’ve never been scammed, i think you’re a liar. Plain and simple. But thank you, i’ll let the rest of the world know to just not let crime happen. I’m sure you’ll be getting the nobel peace prize soon.

  11. @qtzlctl2012 Before …
@qtzlctl2012 Before you answer that, if you’re even going to, I’ll make my point.

Each of the persons so scammed in this way have been through the process of buying a house. They have a feel, at least generally, for when the money has to come out of their pocket, etc. Even moreso if they’ve refinanced.

So they should have felt that this was fishy, having to put forth that money before any results! That’s just not the way it works when you refinance!

  12. @qtzlctl2012 …
@qtzlctl2012 Sarcasm aside, have you ever been scammed? Have you ever figured it out beforehand and avoided it? I have done the latter, many times. Including being called directly by a company that sounded very professional, but I didn’t like what they were asking me, so I hung up.

All I’m suggesting is that we be a little less gullible. But yeah, less cops trying to pull me over for going 5 miles over the speed limit would be great, too, since you mentioned it.

  13. @aaronsande OMG you …
@aaronsande OMG you did it! You solved all the worlds’ problems! We don’t need cops anymore! Just be nice. We don’t need hospitals anymore! Just be healthy! We don’t need people to protect from scam artists! just be a little smarter!
    wow! wow! thank you!

  14. @qtzlctl2012 Those …
@qtzlctl2012 Those are wrong but I am right, which is why it doesn’t work.

Come on, when you make a mistake yourself, you have to take some responsibility for it. Calling an unknown company and giving them $3,000 dollars up front is a pretty stupid mistake.

We’re might both be liberals, but you are the sort, it seems to me, that makes Republicans think we are all about blaming others for our own problems.

  15. @aaronsande yeah, …
@aaronsande yeah, that’s why the analogy works. there are that blame the rape victim too.

  16. @qtzlctl2012 Yes, I …
@qtzlctl2012 Yes, I am…there is certainly enough blame to go around when you do something this stupid.

OTOH, a girl wearing sexy clothes, and thereby getting raped…there’s no blame to go around there. Only the who rapes her is guilty of anything in that case.

  17. @aaronsande nope. …
@aaronsande nope. You’re blaming the victim of a scam.

  18. @qtzlctl2012 …
    @qtzlctl2012 Analogy fail.

  19. Wow, that’s so sad. …
    Wow, that’s so sad.
I feel theft against poor people comes close to murder. These criminals need to do hard labor and pay reparations until they’re old, not pop right out to keep preying on people.
This guy is a hero, I agree with fret2424 there. We need more and more heroes, since our government has abandoned us.

  20. One would think …
One would think that this crime is rather easy to trace back to the proprietors, and prosecute. Someone has to cash the check at a bank.

I remember seeking him expose the real-estate scam in San Diego, and getting into that fight.

John Mattes, you are an AMERICAN HERO!!! You and Rachel Maddow should procreate, and you may just save the country!

Please keep fighting the good fight!

  21. @aaronsande Credit …
@aaronsande Credit cards. These people are desperate and scared.

  22. @aaronsande yeah, …
@aaronsande yeah, and those girls in tight shorts deserve to get raped! yeah! blame the victim!

  23. I see late night …
I see late night commercials all the time now trying to fool people into think they are tied to Obama’s home plan, every time I see them I roll my eyes and wonder how many people just got suckered.

  24. @aaronsande And, …
@aaronsande And, where does the $3,000 come from if they can’t make a mortgage payment?

  25. Who sends $3,000 …
Who sends $3,000 BEFORE any results when you’re already not able to make mortgage payments? Again, “don’t be stupid” seems to be all you need to know.
